I work in a variety of mediums, photography, encaustic painting, and textile art. All of my work is inspired by my photographs, either as the final image or incorporated with other materials. Having studied conventional film photography, my art has always been more tactile, and less technical. I am always exploring different ways of incorporating photography into my art. Recently I have been creating images using encaustic paints over my photographs. It is the unpredictability of the encaustic medium that intrigues me.
For the LBI Open Studio Tour I will be working on a variety of encaustic paintings, demonstrating the various ways I use the medium to get different effects.
